When tasked with designing a Funko Pop adjacent collectible vinyl figure, I created Mitzi. You can read more about the process below.
Inspiration
Form inspiration was first drawn from the idea that Hello Kitty is not actually a cat but a young girl in a cat suit. Then I drew further inspiration from the artist Yoshitomo Nara, Korean makeup trends, and Snow White.
After finalizing her form through sketch ideations, I 3D modeled Mitzi in SOLIDWORKS, then put the model into Keyshot to render it.
Mitzi's packaging is a blind box that has proven quite popular in the toy market recently.
